Workplace Giving & Corporate Matching

Workplace Giving & Corporate Matching

How much do ISHR’s activities cost?

Your contribution will be used to support human rights defenders. This is how much some of ISHR main activities cost:

  • A gift of USD 10,000 could sponsor an advocacy campaign to secure the establishment or renewal of independent accountability mechanisms to prevent and address atrocities in places like Sudan.
  • A gift of USD 5,000 could provide a scholarship for our Human Rights Defender Advocacy Programme (HRDAP), covering travel, accommodation, expert advice and training for leaders of change like Basma.
  • A gift of USD 2,000 could fund an advocacy trip, enabling a human rights defender, to come to Geneva to use the international human rights system to deliver justice at home.
  • A gift of USD 500 could support us to produce a video profiling a human rights defender, providing them with protective publicity, exposing pressing issues that need international attention and action.
  • A gift of USD 100 could provide a defender with a personalised coaching session with one of our experts, supporting them to develop an international advocacy strategy and tactics.
  • A gift of USD 50 could sponsor a defender’s participation in an expert-led webinar on international human rights mechanisms, bridging the gap between local struggle and global justice.
  • A gift of USD 25 could cover the costs of compiling and submitting a formal briefing or “urgent appeal” to a UN Special Rapporteur regarding a defender at immediate risk.

Meet defenders, read their stories of success engaging with the international system we need to protect and how ISHR supports them.

Read Basma's story

Basma is a journalist and woman human rights defender forced into exile after reporting on enforced disappearances, torture and extrajudicial killings in Egypt.

ISHR supported Basma’s pursuit of justice for the threats that have followed her from home to exile. ISHR’s expertise, extensive networks and advocacy support in Geneva meant that Basma obtained a level of protection through the UN human rights system and that some of the perpetrators have been held accountable.
