Michelle Evans holds a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs with a concentration in human rights and the media, and a B.A. in Gender Studies from Bard College. Prior to her post-graduate studies, she worked for five years in the communications field, including as a Reporter and Editor for print and web-based news outlets, and as a Researcher and Producer for documentary and educational media projects in the USA, Central Asia and Central America. Her background also includes working with the Coalition for an International Criminal Court, the Jesuit Refugee Service and the Earth Times Foundation.

Madeleine holds a Master of Laws in International Legal Studies from the New York University School of Law, a Juris Doctor degree from Dalhousie Law School and a B.A. (Honours) in Psychology from Queen's University in Canada. Prior to joining ISHR, Madeleine worked at UNICEF (Division of Policy and Practice) focusing on children, migration and human rights. She has conducted research for the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extra-judicial executions and was an ISHR intern in 2004. She also has experience as a lawyer, researcher and project manager in Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia and Canada.
