The Social Forum will meet for the first time under the responsiblity of the Human Rights Council from 1 to 3 September 2007 and will focus on eradication of poverty in the context of human rights, best practices in the fight against poverty and the social dimension of the globalisation process. Background

The Social Forum is a 'unique space for interactive dialogue between the United Nations human rights machinery and various stakeholders, including grass-roots organisations' to address current challenges related to globalisation.
