ISHR has carried out a number of capacity building activities with partners at the country level. Our in-country training courses reach out to local grassroots non-governmental organisations and members of public institutions in specific countries. They are jointly organised by ISHR and local partners.
The training focuses on the use of national, regional and international human rights mechanisms, coalition building, collaboration between NGOs and national human rights institutions, and strategies for incorporating human rights into national policies. It also addresses the issue of human rights defenders, including the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders and the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders. ISHR has carried activities in several countries, including Guatemala, Brazil, Haiti and Colombia.
