The Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) will hold its 59th session in Geneva from 16 Janvier to 3 February 2012.

 

The following countries will be examined:

  • Azerbaijan
  • Cook Islands
  • Madagascar
  • Myanmar
  • Niue Islands
  • Thailand
  • Togo

 

Under the optional protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography (OPSC):

  • Azerbaijan, Thailand, Togo

 

Under the optional protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict (OPAC):

  • Azerbaijan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thailand

The Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) monitors the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child as well as two optional protocols to the Convention, on the involvement of children in armed conflict and on sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography. The Convention was adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by General Assembly Resolution 44/25 on 20 November 1989. The optional protocols were adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by General Assembly Resolution 54/263 on 25 May 2000. For more information, see OHCHR.
