From 13 to 24 September 2010, the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) will organise its Advanced Geneva Training Course (AGTC) on International Human Rights Law and Advocacy.
The course will be organised in parallel to the 15th session of the Human Righsts Council (the Council). Participants will then have an opportunity to attend the Council's sessions, meet with UN officials, mandate holders, diplomats and representatives of relevant international, regional and national non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
The course is designed for experienced human rights defenders and organisations that have the capacity to use the international human rights system in their work. Besides providing participants with an introduction to the role and functioning of the United Nations (UN) human rights system, the course will also include sessions on lobbying and advocacy techniques.
The course will consist of 20- 25 participants from around the world. It will be focused on how human right defenders (HRDs) can use the UN human rights system at the national level to promote the implementation of its recommendations. For more information, please check the call for application.
You are invited to submit your application form as soon as possible. ISHR will begin reviewing applications as of 20 May and will accept applications until the course is full.
